The Young Spinner Earns Surprise Inclusion in English Ashes Team
The English team has opted for a twelve-player squad just 48 hours before the opening Test match, with Shoaib Bashir earning a unexpected place.
Bashir's inclusion suggests that the visiting team will wait until the day of the first Test to decide whether Perth Stadium pitch favor four seamers or the addition of a spinner.
Both pace bowlers are included in the 12-man squad, showing there are no doubts about either pace bowler’s fitness.
Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse round out the bowling group, with the latter expected to be omitted if Bashir makes the starting XI.
Ground Conditions Favor Seamers
The England coach had been anticipated to choose an pace-only lineup on a venue that has hosted several past matches.
In those games, the majority of dismissals have been taken by pace bowling, with only 40 to spin.
Among these 40 wickets, the veteran spinner has claimed 29, while all visiting spinners combined have just a handful.

Previously there was rumors that the all-rounder could be brought into the side to offer some slow bowling while additionally strengthening the batting lineup.
But McCullum has chosen to stick with the young spinner, having stated previously that he would be his preferred slow bowler for the Ashes.
Earlier, Lyon described the English spinner as “OK,” saying that “in my eyes, the experienced spinner is still England’s best spinner.”
“This is a massive role, and it can be a significant test for bowlers who haven’t done it in the previous in Australian pitches,” Lyon remarked of spin bowling in Australian Tests.
“I’m not going to reveal my strategies so opponents perform and excel out here.”
