Intense precipitation over the recent period have intensified the precarious situation of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated Palestinians in the territory, according to relief organizations.
"Awful" Night Creates Serious Dangers
A official detailed the recent storm as "terrible", with rain so intense that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the terrain.
"Last night was exceptionally terrible for the people. The heavy rains were so intense... And the gales were so forceful," said the spokesperson.
Authorities voice grave concern that children residing in makeshift shelters in damp attire will contract hypothermia and various illnesses.
Deaths and Significant Destruction
Health authorities have reported that one baby has died from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins due to the storms.
Further statements suggest a higher number of casualties. Spokespeople reported that several structures had fully given way and many others had sustained partial collapse.
- Almost 55,000 families harmed by rains.
- More than 40 designated shelters submerged.
- Countless residents forced to move once more.
Assistance Efforts Seen as Inadequate
Groups have escalated shipments of shelter, bedding and clothes after the ceasefire commenced, but they stress there is remains not enough aid entering.
"We are operating tirelessly to deliver that relief and to allocate it, but the scale of the requirements is so immense that we are faced with thousands of individuals and minors who are genuinely enduring hardship each evening," cautioned one spokesperson.
Future Concerns and Agreement Provisions
The subsequent part of the truce involves proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the withdrawal of military forces, and other terms.
Aid groups have underscored the imperative for "increased and sustained aid to respond to pressing and future needs."
The war was initiated by an assault in the autumn of 2023. Following military operations have led to a substantial number of lives lost in the region, as per health ministry data.
