It: Welcome to Derry Debuts Second Early on HBO's Digital Service

Excitement is building for the Stephen King adaptation the Derry series, already earning acclaim and incorporating themes from other Stephen King works. Following the premiere, the network has revealed that episode two will premiere ahead of schedule, scheduled ideally for the spookiest night.

Early Release Particulars

Beginning on the last day of October at midnight PT, episode two of Welcome to Derry will make its debut on HBO's online platform, before its linear broadcast. The remaining installments of the show's first season will continue to air on Sundays on HBO and HBO Max, building toward the concluding chapter on December 14th.

Series Overview

Based in the Derry mythology, the new series draws from the classic book while expanding on the world brought to life by director Andy Muschietti in the recent movie adaptations. It Chapter One highlighted adolescents confronting unimaginable horrors, making it appropriate that this show continues that tradition. Nevertheless, the debut of HBO’s Welcome to Derry proves it set out to raise the stakes, offering heightened horror than the cinematic versions and creating a dark atmosphere for the rest of the season.

Premise and Ideas

Located in the early '60s, the program presents a new generation of adults and children inhabiting a apparently peaceful community concealing a sinister core. Derry operates on a cruel, recurring cycle—defined by aggression, prejudice, and paranormal events, as a terrifying being resurfaces each 27-year cycle. Although Welcome to Derry might appear like it skews too close to the films at first, what sets apart the digital program is its parallel storytelling—unfolding through the viewpoints of young and old simultaneously. The kids are highly exposed to the entity's fear, but the adults don't escape confronting their individual fears born from Derry’s deep-seated bigotry and lurking supernatural forces.

The series debuts on the 31st of October at 12 a.m. Pacific Time.
