Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed game that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for celebrating chaos and insanity with equal glee, all while weaving engaging, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose projects have represented all of those elements.
About the Series
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game property, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by introducing a different backdrop and cast of characters in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX team always encourages me with their ongoing trust and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every title is a take of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can change from year to year, while always examining the nature of society through this intricate and unpredictable perspective, is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and present our shared unconventional, daring style to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
